A big meaty red from the Rhone neck of the woods. Mostly Syrah & Grenache grape varieties giving warm spicy flavours. Price: £6.49
From the region just south of Corbieres, the Cotes du Roussillon Villages is predominantly a Carignan blend, with a fair proportion of Syrah and Mourvedre. Aged for one year in Allier medium toasted barrels, the wine has developed an intensity of caramel and coffee aromas, wrapped up in a luscious palate of black berry fruit, spice and chocolate. Balanced and structured, with silky tannins, the finish is long and pronounced. Made by Paul Boutinot, he suggests serving with hearty winter dishes such as Boeuf Bourguignon. Price: £7.29
Very full bodied wine made from 90% Tannat and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. On the nose red berries and spice, complemented by nuts and a hint of oak with notes of liquorice on the palate. This has just GOT to be good for you, it is so dense & "Phenolic" (the things that unclog your tubes & keep your heart going!).
