Champagne Gobillard Ratafia (France) 19% ALC.(medium-dry, NOT SPARKLING, full-bodied)This is Champagne grapes, harvested, partially-fermented, then fortified with Brandy (also made from Champagne Grapes). Tastes a bit like Pineau de Charentes (if you've had that) or a bit like Grapey White Port (only better!). Drink chilled as an Aperitif (when in France) or Digestif (when in th UK) with cheeses. Interesting, different, unusual & downright delicious.

Trentham Noble Taminga 2003 1/2 Bot (Aussie) 11.5% ALC.(White, screwtop)"Arguably the best value dessert wine on the market." The Daily Telegraph Taminga is a grape variety crossed from Sultana & Gewurtztraminer, however you certainly dont have to know this to appreciate just how good (& good value) this wine is. It is much, much better than some of the big Aussie firms versions that are more readily available. Gorgeous.

Pedro Ximenez, Castilla (50cl, Spain) 15% ALC. (50cl) (Known as PX in the trade) Was £19.85Monsieur (Fernando) Castilla certainly knows how to make pudding wine. This is one of the finest I have tried in 17 years of flogging them. It is ultimately dense & concentrated; smells & tastes of Christmas personified in a glass. It is based on a forty (40!) year old Solera (hence Antique PX) & delivers a dark brown, liquid hit of flavour that you have never tasted before. Treat like an extraordinarily good liquer, a small gloop is all that you will need to muse upon for quite some time.
