A classic Cabernet Franc with an Argentine twist. Wild strawberry, pencil shavings and a hint of blackcurrant on the nose. The twist comes in the form of far riper black and red fruit and depth with a minty touch. Cedar notes protruding from French oak maturation really brings the fuller body together with firm tannins.

Bodega Del Rio Elorza

In 2001, the Del Río Elorza Family acquired a 40-hectare farm. in Colonia Lucinda de Fernández Oro, in the Alto Valle del Río Negro, at 39° south latitude of Argentine Patagonia, where a vineyard had been planted in the first decades of the 20th century. In 2004, work began on recovering the old vines that had been abandoned on the estate for almost a hundred years and planted 20 hectares with high density (5,500 plants per ha.) with specially selected clones of Malbec, Pinot Noir, Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Chardonnay. In order to achieve the best and most rational use of water, they installed a mechanized drip irrigation system and another sprinkler irrigation system for active protection against frost, the only risk factor for production in Patagonia.


Viticulture: Traditional, without the use of pesticides. Hand
Vinification: The wine is aged for 12 months in new French
oak barrels.
Tasting Note: Classic elements of Cabernet Franc on the
nose including wild strawberry, blackberry, pencil shavings
and a hint of blackcurrant leaf. This is riper than a typical oldworld Cabernet Franc and does not show too much
greenness, instead offering more body and depth of fruit and
a slight touch of herbal mint. The fuller bodied palate is
elegant with firm tannins but a vital balancing acidity. Cedar
notes show from the use of French oak and the finish is
dominated by bright red fruit and mocha spice.
