Based in Reims, Taittinger is one of the last great champagne houses to remainfamily owned and operated. Founded in 1932 by Pierre Taittinger and his brother in law, it is currently headed by Pierre-Emmanuel Taittinger.

They began life as Roman chalk quarries in the 4TH CENTURY!!! They were extended once the Abbey was built in the 13th Century and even though the Abbey itself was destroyed in The Revolution the caves remained. Here they served as shelter from bombings for civilians and Allied troops in WW1, some of whom left their graffiti etched in the chalk walls. They keep 2 million bottles down in the caves from regular bottle size up to Jeroboam (4 bottle size) which sounds a lot - until we found out they have a staggering 20 million bottles kept in their main reserves.

A signature style of Chardonnay heavy blends create wines of elegance and finess.
