Attractive aromas of ripe mulberry and raspberry, along with touches of chocolate and spice. Medium bodied, round, soft and juicy with lots of fruit flavour, a bit of oak, gentle spice. Good for everyday drinking, but can handle a bit of aging to mellow it out even more so.
A pretty enticing blend of Shiraz 72%, Tempranillo 12%, Grenache 11% and Merlot 5%.
A good wine for light stews or with cheese...Cheddar or anything alpine would do!
Located in the Clare Valley, South Oz, about 120km north of Adelaide, Pikes benefit from a slightly cooler climate than you would expect from Australia as the vineyards lie at an altitude of between 400-500 meters above sea level ensuring the nights are cooler and the warm days are not as fierce. This means that the grapes ripen evenly over a consistent period, rather than being blasted with heat during the day and almost frozen at night, giving the wines freshness and elegance.
A juicy, soft red is just the thing to serve with a juicy soft burger and a good Aussie lamb burger would be a brilliant match
