Decanter Magazine, Chenin Blanc 1947 by Kaapzicht is top! Looking at wines with an RRP of under £55, Decanter experts from around the world proposed their top three wines, a list which was then narrowed down to 75, all of which were retasted blind by a panel of three judges; Oz Clarke, Christelle Guibert and Andy Howard MW. To be placed in first place is an incredible accolade for Kaapzicht, whose wines are going from strength to strength. Awarded 96 points, the judges commented:
"Luxurious and warm, with enveloping notes of honey, lemon and pineapple jumping out of the glass. Creamy and complex, this is bursting with flavour and life and indulgent good humour. Sweet exotic fruit married with nutty apple and citrus are wrapped up with a crisp acidity."
Made from grapes grown on vines planted by winemaker Dani Steytler Jrs great grandfather in 1947.
“It’s a hugely complex yet entirely drinkable affair....“ Christian Eedes - www.whatidranklastnight.co.za
