CHATEAUNEUF DU PAPE, FRANCE: Winemaker Xavier Rolin produces a highly expressive wine from 60 year old vines. 85% Syrah and 15% grenache giving an almost black wine with provencal spices, pepper, and a touch of gameiness. No oak, just pure fruit, and it boasts a generous persistence on the palate, and is a proper mouth filling chunky wine.
