Merlot is one of the most maleable grapes in the world. It can be grown in most climates, and can be shaped with pretty much every wine-making technique you can think. Clean and fruity or hefty and oaked – Merlot can do it. In the case of Pato Torrente, it is clean and fruity, with no oak but lots of black and red fruit. Plums ahoy!
