Description
An outstanding grower Champagne at a bargain price. Classic lemon, lime and gooseberry on a bed of light, soft digestive biscuit and lemon curd.
Located near the village of Hautvilliers in the Vallée de la Marne which is listed as a a UNESCO World Heritage. The Abbaye Saint-Pierre d’Hautvillers is the site of the grave of monk Dom Pérignon, an 18th-century pioneer of the champagne-making process. As such, the Gobillard vines are side by side with Premier Cru land used for Dom Perignon. Gobillard itself is a 4th generation family “grower Champagne” (i.e. they only use their own grapes unlike all of the large houses who buy in). An average of 40% of the price you pay for any Grand Marque Champagne (e.g. Moet/Veuve Clicquot/Bollinger) goes toward their marketing budget. Thus the price paid for a grower Champagne is going much further for the quality of grapes.
Champagne production is a complex process with many steps – learn more.
