From the flinty leanness of Pouilly Fume to the buoyant aromatics of New Zealand Savvy B, it has inspired fierce loyalty and appalled detractors alike. Known for tropical notes and blackcurrant leaf, gooseberries and nettles flavours, the aim for winemakers is to maintain the strong aromatics and not detract from them with too much winemaking, such as oak-aging.
