Blonde
Blonde ales are very pale in colour. The term orginates from the pale beers commonly brewer in Europe and the Americas. Thought these beers may not have anything in common, other than colour. They often have a lighter profile than pale lagers and sometimes are more carbonated than traditonal ales. In the UK we brewed Summer ales in the late 20th Century to compete with the pale lager market. The style can be attributed to John Gilbert, owner of Hop Back Brewery who developed “Summer Lightning” in 1989.
Be warned there is also the famous Belgian Blondes (Blonde Devils) that are often a much higher Abv but are also dangerously drinkable.
Expect to taste a clean and crisp fruity ale that has a touch of sweetness.
