Double IPA

Double IPA. Although the style is still in its infancy (granted its just over a decade old) the traditonal Double IPA has come along way through the years. Many will argue that they are just IPA’s on steroids, with bigger malt and hop builds that allows fermentation to go further, normally boosting the ale to be well above 9%. This is true but not all DIPAs are created the same. Some will be much sweeter, some even so hoppy they transcend bitterness all together. One things for sure is that it is not always just double to ingredients list. With many changing the hopping concentration to allow for the extra malt, it is a fine art to take your favourite IPA and make it bigger, bolder without becoming a almagation of its former self.

Expect to taste Sweeter malts, ripe fruit, booze and more bitterness.
