Wheat/Weisse
Wheat Beers or Weisse Beers are typically from Bavaria, and usually translate to White Beer. The difference here for those who can’t guess is the replacement of malted barely with wheat. By law in Germany these must also be top fermented. Special yeast has also been attributed to the flavours found in wheat beer, with most poeple being able to pick up on the Banana and clove flavours commonly found. Dubbed Weisse beer as traditonal beers in munich were brown, and the introduction of a paler coloured beer may have seemed a bit of a shock. The beer is often unfiltered and allows for the cloudiness produced by the wheat to be included often why you can’t read a newspaper through the glass.
Expect a low bitterness with banana, cloves and a very smooth drinking experience.
