SICILIA. Big, soft & spicy, like a warm hug on a bed of baked plum crumble.
JAIS NOIR ALO CARIGNAN, FRANCE
COTE CATALANES. Deep coloured and intensely flavoured but with soft delicate tannins, this is definitely one to curl up on the sofa with.
VERGEL MONASTRELL/MERLOT, SPAIN
ALICANTE. A liquid M&M with a splash of Alicante Bouschet for colour. A vivid, soft youthful red of no inconsiderable charm.
SOLDIERS BLOCK SHIRAZ, AUSTRALIA
LANGHORNE CREEK. Great value. Mulberry plums, some herby notes and a lick of vanilla.
PRIMITIVO APPASSIMENTO CARLOMAGNO, ITALY
PUGLIA. Big, juicy wine which has been beefed up by the addition of some Appassimento (partially dried) grapes. Rich and ripe with bags of sweet fruit and vanilla from oak ageing.
SANTA ALBA CARMENERE, CHILE
CURICO VALLEY. Like Merlot with knobs on – it’s rich, velvety plummy, dark and luscious with a dark chocolate bar finish.
